Meet the team.
Kym Needham FMAAT
Managing Director & Senior Accountant.
I am married to Paul and have been since 2007. I have a daughter Olivia who was born in 2009 and she now keeps me very busy with her hectic dancing schedule. Born and bred in Heanor, I still live there today and take great pride in having the business on my local High Street. I love my job and it was always my ambition to have my own business which I achieved at the age of 26. I work a lot of hours which are sometimes very unsociable but in my spare time I enjoy shopping (especially for shoes and handbags), socialising with family and friends and burying my head in a book. I like to head abroad on my holidays a couple of times a year but I am just as happy in a field in my tent for weekends with family and friends as long as wine is involved. I am always keen to support local groups and charities both personally and through the business, I can often be found to be involved with fundraisers at the local Sunnyside Club for a variety of causes.
Alyson Topley
Business Services Director.
I am a mother of two (one of them being Kym!) and a grandmother of three.
My family mean everything to me and I spend a lot of my time with them and do my fair share of babysitting duties.
When I can, I enjoy socialising with friends and family, and going on holiday.
Bradley Hutsby MAAT
Senior Accounts Manager.
I joined KLN straight from school, being here since June 2016. I always had my eyes set on being an accountant whilst still being in school. As a local lad from Heanor, I’d always known of KLN being a local accountancy firm and with me being from round here everything went in my favour when joining.
At the age of 16, I began my accountancy career right at the bottom and have since worked my way up to my current role of Senior Accounts Manager.
I gained MAAT status in November 2019, having progressed through all levels with KLN using EMA Training.
Being an accountant is rewarding and has its benefits. I enjoy what I do, and by dealing with a wide range of clients, it doesn’t get boring and keeps you on your toes.
Outside of work I spend time socialising with friends and family and going to watch Forest.
Charlie Bates MAAT AATQB
Senior Client Manager.
Hello, I’m Charlie, the Senior Client Manager at KLN Accountancy Services.
I started at KLN in 2015 as an Office Junior and worked my way up to my current role.
While at school, I worked a few evenings and Saturday morning’s doing little jobs around the office which helped me develop my communication skills and work ethic. I then decide to continue to work at KLN, but I decided to take on further education at sixth form which I soon found that it was not for me, which then I started an apprenticeship to gain my AAT qualification.
I qualified as an Accountant in October 2023, it is safe to say, I found it extremely difficult, but I didn’t give up.
I enjoy my job, especially dealing with clients, it is very rewarding when you can be the person that your client relies on for all their business needs and they don’t feel like they are downing in paperwork or worrying about figures.
I recently took on the role as an Employee Relations Manager due to the growth in the business, in this role, I help the employees of KLN to develop, set out standards and procedures which should be followed within the office and most importantly be that person that they can come to in confidence about any issues.
I was Heanor born and bred until I brought my first house in Swanwick, I enjoy being a homeowner along with my Partner James and our newest addition to the family Branston (the dog)
Amy Sewell
